Paediatric Society of Ghana Pays Courtesy Call on First Lady
On February 21, 2024, the Paediatric Society of Ghana, led by its President, Dr Hilda Boye, paid a courtesy visit to the First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Lordina Dramani Mahama, at her office in Accra.
The delegation expressed gratitude for Her Excellency’s support during the society’s Annual General and Scientific Meeting.
The team formally introduced the Paediatric Society of Ghana to the First Lady and invited her to serve as the society’s patron. They highlighted the critical role of paediatric care in national health development and emphasized the importance of strong partnerships to enhance child healthcare in Ghana.
The delegation expressed their belief that the First Lady’s vision for providing adequate and quality healthcare for all, especially women and children, aligns perfectly with their core mandate of delivering quality healthcare for children, regardless of geographical and demographic status.
They commended the First Lady for several significant initiatives through the Lordina Foundation, including the Lordina Foundation Maternity and Children Ward signature projects and the numerous donations of medical equipment and supplies to various hospitals across the country.
The visit underscored the society’s commitment to strengthening collaborations in advancing paediatric health and advocacy efforts nationwide.
The Paediatric Society of Ghana has collaborated with numerous international and local partners to advocate for a quality and accessible child healthcare system in Ghana and beyond.
Major partners include WHO, UNICEF, the Ghana Medical Association, the International Paediatric Association, the Ministry of Health, the Ghana Health Service, and the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health.
Additionally, the delegation presented a citation to the First Lady in recognition of her continued commitment to the Paediatric Society and child health in general
