Lordina Mahama Interacts With Young Ladies At A Singles Camp Meeting

Former first lady Mrs Lordina Dramani Mahama has shared time-tested advice with young ladies attending a singles camp meeting and inspired them to make the most of their singleness while striving for personal and spiritual growth.

Mrs Mahama was speaking as the special guest of honour at the 2024 Young Singles Camp Meeting of the Assemblies of God Church held at the AGGAR Retreat and Resort Centre in Shai Hills. The event was a three-day singles programme for young ladies in the church.

In her address, Mrs Mahama emphasised the profound importance of embracing singleness as a unique gift from God. She encouraged the young ladies to seize this phase in their lives, using it as a golden opportunity to nurture their dreams and aspirations before embarking on the journey of marriage.

Mrs Mahama, also a certified counsellor, underscored the significance of building individual capacities, pursuing formal education, learning a vocation, and striving to reach one’s full potential.

Personal care and appearance were also emphasised, with Mrs Mahama urging the young ladies to dedicate time to self-care and be mindful of their appearance.

She highlighted that caring for oneself is not just about physical appearance but also about nurturing one’s inner self and maintaining a positive outlook. Mrs Mahama stressed the significance of investing time in the things of God through prayer and godly fellowship.

The former first lady and president of the Lordina Foundation warned the young ladies against the temptations that come with youth, such as fornication, alcoholism, drugs, and an indecent lifestyle. She advised them to remain vigilant and not succumb to peer pressure, encouraging them to uphold self-discipline and godliness in all their endeavours.

In recognition of her generosity and motherly role to the youth of the church and the nation, the leadership of the Young Single Group presented a citation to Mrs Mahama.

Lordina Mahama meets Kumasi market queens to discuss their concerns.

Former First Lady Lordina Dramani Mahama has met a delegation of market queens from Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

The meeting, held at the instance of the market queens, discussed several issues, including the cost of doing business and their eroding working capital because of the constant decline of the Ghana cedi against other trading currencies. They also raised concerns about the poor sanitary conditions in the markets and the need for adequate market infrastructure in many parts of the region.

Mrs Mahama expressed her sadness about their situation and emphasised that she was also a market woman, having been one for over 30 years.

“I am one of you. I have been a market woman for over 30 years, so I know what you are going through,” she emphasised.

She acknowledged market women’s important role in the economy and assured them of her support.

“My doors are always open. My love for you and what you do is not based on who you vote for. I will continue to love you and support you in any way I can,” she stated.

Mrs Mahama promised the group that the next NDC administration led by John Mahama would pay special attention to the needs and concerns of all market women in the country.

She announced that the Mahama administration would build more markets in all regions, as stated in the NDC’s 2020 manifesto.

Mrs Mahama congratulated all women on their relentless efforts to make this world better and wished them a happy International Women’s Day.

2024 International Women’s Day Statement by Mrs Lordina Mahama

2024 International Women's Day Statement by Mrs. Lordina Mahama

Today, as we celebrate ourselves as women, let us remember the importance of supporting and uplifting one another.

We must empower and celebrate each other and stand together in solidarity. Our responsibilities include ensuring every woman and girl feels valued in all aspects of society.

I urge all of us to continue to invest in women, as it is not only a moral imperative but also an economic one. When women are allowed to reach their full potential, everyone benefits.

Let us challenge stereotypes and create a world where everyone is valued and respected.

On this 2024 International Women’s Day, I congratulate my dear husband, John Dramani Mahama, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the bold decision to select a woman, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, as Running Mate.

And congratulations, Naana, for yet another opportunity to break the glass ceiling.

Through the Lordina Foundation, I will continue to do my best to support needy children, orphans, women, and health facilities nationwide. I am happy to note that the newly constructed Lordina Foundation Maternity and Children’s Ward at the Bole District Hospital has contributed to the zero maternal mortality rate recorded in 2023.

Together, we can inspire inclusion and build a world where all women can grow to their fullest potential.
