The Lordina Foundation, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, has donated assorted medical equipment to the Mampong Hospital in the Ashanti Region.
The presentation was informed by the Foundation’s quest to support improved access to quality maternal services and helping to reduce neonatal mortality in the country.
Items donated to the hospital include one thousand (1,000) packs of 20-unit delivery kits, digital baby scales, mini nebulizers, baby baths, baby cots, BP apparatus, suction machines among others.
Board Secretary of the Lordina Foundation (Ms. Santuo-Ocrah) noted that in terms of regional dynamics, the Ashanti region has a high neonatal mortality, which therefore makes the choice of Mampong for the International Women’s Day support important.
“Ashanti Region recorded the highest neonatal mortality rate of 42 deaths per 1000 live births. This figure is higher than the world, sub-region, national and regional averages. The Lordina Foundation strives to contribute to the efforts of agencies to help reduce neonatal mortality in Ghana. And that is why we are here today in the Ashanti Region”, she noted.
The queen mother of Mampong, Nana Agyakoma Difie II, who is a member of the Board of Directors of the Lordina Foundation facilitated the choice of the Mampong Hospital for the donation.
